A Pretoria family’s outing to Bronkhorstspruit Dam ended in shock yesterday morning after they made a grim discovery in the water during what was meant to be a quiet fishing trip. Pretoria Rekordreportsthat, according toMaroela Media, the family arrived at the Bronkhorstspruit Dam Nature Reserve at around 08:30. When their 12-year-old son waded into the water, he noticed what appeared to be a mutilated and decomposed body lying in a shallow area of the dam, prompting the family to raise the alarm.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that officers responded and opened a routine inquest docket. She says a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the cause of death. Another body was found near a dam outside Dullstroom.
What began as a quiet moment near the water turned into a chilling discovery after a fisherman’s wife stumbled upon the body of an unidentified man near Janson Dam, on a farm outside Dullstroom. Middelburg Observerreportsthat, according to SAPS in Mpumalanga, the body was discovered on Saturday at around 12:30. The woman was exploring the area near the dam when she noticed a man lying face down, close to a railway line.

She immediately alerted authorities. Police responded to the scene and found the decomposed body of an adult male. At this stage, his identity is unknown.
The deceased was wearing a blue T-shirt, black tracksuit trousers and white trainers. Investigators are appealing to the community to help piece together the final moments of the man’s life, as police work to trace his family and determine how he ended up at the remote location.
