Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that the first semi-final of the Castel Challenge Cup between FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mzuzu City Hammers will be played this Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. On the other hand, the second last four match, featuring Goshen City Dedza Dynamos and Lilongwe-based Blue Eagles is scheduled for Sunday at Dedza Stadium. FAM operations director Gomezgani Zakazaka yesterday said the final will be played on February 15.
“But we are yet to finalise on the venue and once the final decision is made, we shall communicate,” he said. To reach the semis, Bullets beat Mighty Tigers 2-0 on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium while Hammers booted out holders Mighty Wanderers 5-4 on post-match penalties after playing out a one-all draw at Rumphi Stadium. On the other hand, Dedza Dynamos beat Blantyre-based Ekhaya FC 2-0 while Eagles saw-off Chitipa United 4-1.
Meanwhile, Bullets forward Maxwell Gasten Phodo leads the tournament’s golden boot chase with seven goals. The winner of the tournament, which is in its third edition, will receive K55 000 with the losing finalists getting K25 000.
