The complainant, Realtor Fitment Centre represented by manager Prosper Marufu, told the court that Ndebele was employed as a security guard at the company.

On July 31, Marufu instructed his client, Malvin Mutasa, to deliver US$3 700 to him at the company premises.

Upon arrival, Mutasa met Ndebele, who was on duty.

Ndebele allegedly misrepresented himself as “Munetsi” and received the cash.

He later fled to Gutu Growth Point and also stole the company’s laptop worth US$400.

On July 5, detectives from CID Gutu were informed that Ndebele was violently drunk and threatening to shoot patrons in a beer hall.

Police teamed up and arrested him.

The court further heard that on August 4, at Mugwidi compound in Mupandawana Growth Point, Ndebele impersonated a Zimbabwe National Army officer and threatened to kill his girlfriend, Trish Tandanai, while armed with a gun.

He allegedly showed her photographs of himself in army camouflage.

Tandanai then alerted the police, leading to his arrest.
