Mbulelo MpofuTinotenda “Walker” Chifamba, the self-proclaimed eco-warrior and face of climate consciousness in Matabeleland, is facing a storm of his own making, a scandal swirling around fake EcoCash payments, unpaid debts and broken promises. The National Environmental Awareness Trust (Neat), frontman is accused of dodging payments owed to local service providers after a high-profile eco-summit – while jetting off to “Kenya” and “Uganda!”Bekezela Dube (facilitator) and photographer Benson “Beny G” Gonah faithfully delivered services for Chifamba’s “Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Safeguarding Biodiversity,” held with much fanfare at Hillside Dams Conservancy last September.

Chifamba had promised the grand sum of US$100 to the duo for their services.Weeks later, not a single dollar of the hundred has hit their pockets!Despite relentless pleas, Chifamba’s promises have evaporated faster than a puddle in a drought. When contacted by B-Metro, Chifamba unleashed a tirade of contradictions and threats! He first claimed it was an “organisational issue,” telling Dube and Beny G he’d “ask my bosses for approval.”But wait!

A NEAT boss who preferred anonymity told B-Metro a VERY different story: “All budgets were done and approved and we don’t owe anyone.” So who’s lying?Facing the heat, Chifamba flipped the script! He suddenly claimed he engaged the pair, “AS A FAVOUR” — implying Dube and Beny G should be grateful for the “unpaid opportunity!”His texts reveal a man buckling under pressure: “Guys that’s not the only thing I’m doing right. I did that out of favour…this is now coming out of my own pocket.
