Liberty Midlands Mall is readying for the festive season rush with extended shopping hours and numerous activities to help both adults and children get into the festive spirit while shopping. On Friday, the mall announced that shopping hours will be extended from December 12 to December 23. All shops at the mall will be open from 9am to 8pm.

The mall said extending shopping hours during the festive season is a standing request by shoppers, which the mall is happy to deliver on, as it wants shoppers to be able to get Christmas gifts for their friends and loved ones at their leisure. Once gifts are purchased, shoppers can proceed to the mall’s gift wrapping station in the Wimpy court. The wrapping of gifts at the station will cost shoppers a fee of R10 to R20 (depending on the size of the gift), and all proceeds will go to the Pietermaritzburg Community Chest.

Other festive season offerings, like the Santa Claus photoshoot, are specifically targeted toward children; however, there are no age restrictions for anyone who would like a photo on Santa’s lap. Photos with Santa will be at the Wimpy court from December 12 until Christmas Eve. An art space outside the food court will allow little artists to express themselves through an array of hands-on activities. “Here, children can turn black and white pieces into colourful vivid creations and indulge in everything from drawstring bag art to DIY sand bottles.
