A faction of the Economic Freedom Movement (EFM) has urged former President Lazarus Chakwera to assist the government by providing information on individuals allegedly involved in disrupting public service operations.
The appeal was made by Joseph Peshi, leader of the EFM wing, during a press conference earlier this week.
Peshi emphasized that identifying those responsible could help authorities hold accountable anyone engaging in sabotage across various government departments, including the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA).

âProviding information on these individuals will enable the government to initiate proper investigations and ensure that anyone orchestrating or participating in the disruption of public services faces the appropriate legal action,â Peshi said.
He also called on the current administration to handle prosecutions impartially, warning against targeting only certain individuals suspected of involvement.

Peshi stressed the importance of fair and transparent management of all allegations.
During the briefing, Peshi commended the government for its progress in service delivery, highlighting efforts to stabilize the national currency, manage fuel supply, and safeguard national resources as key achievements that offer citizens hope.
The statements by the EFM faction come amid growing public concern over alleged disruptions in essential government operations, which are reported to have affected service delivery and overall accountability.
Analysts note that these allegations of sabotage have heightened political tensions, with calls for transparency and fairness in investigations gaining momentum.
