ECZ trains over 500 Isoka Poll staff

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has trained 560 poll staff in Isoka district, in Muchinga Province, ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The training has been conducted for successful applicants who were selected following the aptitude test administered by the commission.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Isoka District Electoral Officer Brian Musonda says 540 poll staff were selected for deployment to the 90 polling stations in the district with each polling station allocated six poll staff.

Mr Musonda said the training equipped the poll staff with knowledge on electoral procedures, voter verification, ballot paper management, vote counting, results management and other responsibilities expected of election officials.

“The purpose of this training is to ensure that our poll staff are adequately equipped with the knowledge and skills required to conduct polling in accordance with the procedures and guidelines of the commission,” he said.

He said the practical sessions were also aimed at preparing the poll staff to effectively handle various situations that may arise during the polling process.

“We have also included practical sessions so that the officers can appreciate what is expected of them at the polling station and how they should handle different situations that may arise,” Mr Musonda said.

Mr Musonda said the commission was confident that the training would enable the poll staff to discharge their duties professionally and contribute to the smooth conduct of the 2026 General Elections in Isoka district.
