The Electoral Commission of Zambia has certified a total of 8,786,300 voters who will participate in the August 13, 2026 general elections, following the conclusion of voter registration, inspection, and duplication exercises. ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro announced the final figures during a briefing in Lusaka. Mr Kasaro indicated that at the close of mass registration, the provisional register stood at 8,888,912 voters.

“After inspection and deduplication, 101,439 duplicate applications were excluded and 1,173 records of deceased voters were removed, bringing the certified total to 8, 786, 300,” he said. Mr Kasaro stated that women and youths dominate the register of the certified voters, revealing that 4,665,431 are female, representing 53.1 percent, while 4,120,869 are male, representing 46.9 percent. He added that youths aged between 18 to 34 account for 4,066,423 voters, or 46.3percent of the register.“In the spirit of inclusion, the final register includes 20,162 persons with disabilities and this comprises 7,584 persons with visual impairments, 6,072 with hearing disabilities, 2,353 wheelchair users, and 4,153 who use crutches.“This reaffirms our unwavering commitment to ensuring that we provide disaggregated data for our various stakeholders,” he said.Mr Kasaro added that Lusaka Province recorded the highest number of registered voters at 1,430,889, followed by Copperbelt with 1,296,446 and Eastern with 1,129,444.He said that Southern Province has 1,103,275 voters, while Central has 820,079 and lowest is Western Province with 629,352 registered voters.“The certified register reflects the new 226 constituencies following the conclusion of the 2026 delimitation exercise on April 17, 2026,” Mr Kasaro said.He explained that the new register replaces all previous registers and will remain in force until another updated register is prepared and certified.He urged registered voters to check their constituencies by dialing *214# on any mobile phone, visiting the ECZ Online Portal athttp://ovr.elections.org.zm, or downloading the ECZ Mobile App from the Google Play Store.“There will be no transfers or new registrations following the certification of the Register of Voters,” Mr Kasaro cautioned.

He added that youths aged between 18 to 34 account for 4,066,423 voters, or 46.3percent of the register. “In the spirit of inclusion, the final register includes 20,162 persons with disabilities and this comprises 7,584 persons with visual impairments, 6,072 with hearing disabilities, 2,353 wheelchair users, and 4,153 who use crutches. “This reaffirms our unwavering commitment to ensuring that we provide disaggregated data for our various stakeholders,” he said.
