Developed by Sasai Fintech, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, the EcoCash Super App is built around an integrated digital ecosystem that combines multiple use cases, including content creation, chat, payments and more. “We observed a shift in how people engage digital payment platforms. It’s inherently social.
It’s not just about sending money, but it’s about engagement between the sender and the recipient,” said an EcoCash spokesperson. “It’s really about connection between people, and we believe these new features empower people express that.” By simplifying how a user can seek and offer support, the feature strengthens the role of mobile money in enabling community-driven initiatives. The Request Payment function offers further convenience by allowing users to ask for specific amounts directly from friends, family, relatives or colleagues.
“This is especially handy when it comes to meeting urgent expenses or settling a quick obligation or commitment,” EcoCash said. The person asked for help can respond immediately, with the funds transferred directly from their wallet to the requester’s EcoCash wallet. The Tips feature adds a unique social dimension that enables users to share practical knowledge and insights with others “ in-App”, or on the platform.

From DIY (do-it-yourself) hacks, and everyday life solutions, to motivational content or faith-based teachings, the Tips feature creates a dynamic space for peer-to-peer learning and engagement. “These are features we believe can make a real difference in markets such as Zimbabwe, because financial inclusion of the informal sector tends to thrive on the back of already existing social and economic networks,” the EcoCash spokesman said.
