Brandon Moyo, Zimpapers Sports HubFORMER Zimbabwe captains Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer marked their return to competitive cricket with solid performances for National Premier League (NPL) defending champions Takashinga Patriots 1 against Queens Sports Club at Kwekwe Sports Club on Sunday.The 39-year-old Taylor scored a half century while 38-year-old Cremer picked up four wickets.Taylor made 61 runs off 66 deliveries as Takashinga posted 236/6 in their 45 overs. This was Taylor’s first competitive cricket match since his three-and-a-half-year ban ended on July 26.His debut innings for Takashinga comprised six fours and one six. Taylor is expected to make his much-awaited return to international cricket on Thursday when Zimbabwe host New Zealand in the second Test at Queens Sports Club.Cremer was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 4/43 in eight overs as Takashinga bowled out the Bulawayo side for just 129 runs in 23.4 overs to win by 134 runs.Cremer, who had put his career on hold in 2018 is tipped for a return to international cricket as Zimbabwe prepares to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup with South Africa and Namibia.
