Sikhumbuzo MoyoIT’S smiles all round for Government workers after the State confirmed that civil servants will pocket not one but two bonuses!As extra cherry on top, the lucrative car rebate scheme makes a full comeback.Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Edgar Moyo reaffirmed that civil servants will receive their annual bonus in addition to President Mnangagwa’s special Presidential bonus, which will be paid out in two equal instalments of US$75 each in November and December.“The regular bonus will be paid as usual and naturally guided by Treasury cash flows.
The Presidential bonus will also be paid in two equal instalments of US$75 in November and December,” said Minister Moyo.He said the Government remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants and pensioners, a cornerstone of President Mnangagwa’s Second Republic thrust to build a motivated and productive public service.In more good news, Minister Moyo announced the full restoration of the civil servants’ motor vehicle rebate scheme, a major incentive that had been tweaked to curb corruption after some beneficiaries abused it.“The civil servants’ vehicle rebate is being fully restored to 2022 benefit levels, rewarding long service and commitment as reflected in Statutory Instrument 124 of 2022 with effect from 1 December 2025,” he said.The scheme allows civil servants with 10 or more years of service to import a car duty-free, but strictly forbids selling or hiring the vehicle within five years without Zimra’s written consent.Last year, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) recovered over 350 vehicles that were illegally imported under the scheme.With the return of the rebate and the double bonuses on the horizon, Government workers are set to enjoy a festive season like no other — cash in pocket, keys in hand, and smiles all round.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
