PF acting president Given Lubinda has urged other political parties not to form new alliances but instead join the Tonse Alliance. On Thursday, Oasis Forum Chairperson Beauty Katebe advised the opposition to unite and choose a leader, stating that having many candidates on the ballot would split their votes. On Friday a consortium of political parties consisting of the New Heritage Party, PAC, ULP, UNIP and the Zambia We Want (ZWW) launched the We’re One Zambia Alliance (WOZA).

In an interview, Friday, Lubinda said he agrees with the Oasis Forum and citizens who have been calling for unity in the opposition, adding that he hopes other parties will realise the need for a united opposition. “That has been our call… Do you agree that child defilers should be castrated?
