Day 3: Search for Maun missing boy continues

Maun Police Station Commander Joseph Lepodise has confirmed that after pausing the search late yesterday and resumed early this morning. This search is a joint operation between the Police, Botswana Defence Force (BDF), the District Councilโ€™s Disaster Management Unit, and local divers familiar with the river system. โ€œWe stopped the search late evening because it was getting late.

But we resumed the search around 6 am and we are still on as we speak,โ€ Lepodise said. The child, whose name has not yet been released, reportedly disappeared while swimming near the Thamalakane River on Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses told Police that the boy was last seen in the water before suddenly vanishing, prompting fears of a crocodile attack.

It is not uncommon in this part of the world for parents to actually punish their children when they show signs of depression associating it with issues of indiscipline, and as a result, the poor child will be lashed or given some kind of punishment.
