Crackdown in Lenasia: Over sixty scholar transport vehicles impounded

Over 60 scholar transport vehicles were impounded in Lenasia, Johannesburg, on 22 January 2026. Transport Minister Barbara Creecy was joined by Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, and the National Traffic Police on the ground to address parents and drivers regarding safety standards.

More than 60 scholar transport vehicles have been impounded during an operation led by Transport Minister Barbara Creecy in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg. Two drivers were arrested for overloading during the exercise.
