Trust FreddyHerald CorrespondentHARARE City Council has continued its blitz on non-compliant businesses, an operation that has seen over 300 shops shut down in the central business district since its launch on Tuesday. The operation dubbed, “CBD order restoration”, is mainly targeting businesses operating without licenses, illegally partitioned buildings as well as businesses not paying their water bills. While some have managed to comply by paying the necessary fees and have since reopened, some unlicensed shops are still closed three days after Harare council raids.Today, the chairperson of the Task Force leading the blitz, Mr Edgar Dzehonye, said the team was raiding shops along Cameron Street.“The City of Harare is continuing with Operation CBD Order Restoration in which municipal authorities are visiting every building in and around the city centre to ensure compliance with the operating business bylaws,” he said in a statement.A survey conducted by Zimpapers earlier today revealed that some shops closed for non-compliance have displayed stickers indicating renovations, while some affected individuals are lingering nearby, attempting to attract customers to buy from their cars.Share on FacebookPost on XFollow usSave
