PRICEWATER Coopers (PwC) Mining Industry review report has predicted that the country might record a total copper production of 960,000 metric tonnes in 2025. The report also shows that Zambia’s current copper mining potential stands at 1.96 million tonnes annually. Meanwhile, Director Planning and Information at the Ministry of Mines, Tobias Musonda, says current figures for copper production as of October 31, stand at 746,679.4 metric tonnes.
Presenting the report, PwC Country Partner Andrew Chibuye said the country recorded 439,644 tonnes of copper production mid-year, which represented a 17.8 per cent increase. “We then look at the road to three million tonnes which sort of takes us back to the discussion on production.
