According to Zera’s 2024 Annual Performance Report, LPG consumption hit 77 million kg last year, supported by 622 licensed retail sites, which recorded a compliance rate of 93. 7 percent.
The watchdog said compliance has improved due to its ban on smuggled cylinders, though illegal vending remains a challenge.
Zera also raised alarm over the rising number of accidents linked to mishandling gas and ignoring safety procedures, urging continued training for operators and public education on safe LPG use.
