Chinhoyi — In a move aimed at deepening regional cooperation, Mashonaland West Province of Zimbabwe and Namibia’s Kavango East Region have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paving the way for enhanced collaboration in agriculture, education, health, and other key developmental sectors The agreement was officially signed in Chinhoyi by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West, Hon Marian Chombo, and the Chairperson of the Kavango East Regional Council, Damian Maghambayi The event was graced by His ExcellencyRikondja Kandjii, Namibian Ambassador to Zimbabwe

“This partnership, rooted in friendship and strategic collaboration, underscores our belief that regional cooperation is vital in unlocking the potential of our respective communities,” said Minister Chombo “It recognizes that through unity and partnership, we can overcome challenges, exchange knowledge, and harness opportunities for sustainable development.”

She added that the renewedMoUstands as a testament to the shared commitment of the two regions in promoting cultural understanding, economic cooperation, and social exchange Echoing her sentiments, Maghambayi described theMoUnot as a ceremonial formality but as a strategic alliance anchored in mutual respect and a shared vision for people-centered growth and rural transformation “This MoU is a strategic commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect and shared aspirations for rural development, industrialisation, and inclusive growth,” he said

He highlighted priority areas under the renewed agreement, including:

Knowledge exchange in sustainable agriculture and irrigation technologies

Capacity building and skills development in agro-processing and value addition
