OVER 200 Chilanga residents have dragged 11 mining companies to court, alleging that their quarrying and blasting operations have caused severe ground vibrations and dust pollution, leading to property damage and impacting their health. The 217 residents have also sued Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), the Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) and Chilanga District Council for failing to perform their statutory duties. In this matter, the mining companies cited include: Albatross Mining Limited, One Palm Mine Limited, Yapstone Quarry Limited, Crystal Quarry Limited, Twaj Investment Limited, Rockstone Quarry Limited, Newcrest Lime Limited, C-ORE Industries Limited, Dolomite Aggregates Limited, Golden Tiger Quarry Limited and Lions Quarry Limited.
