Herald ReporterPAN AFRICAN Parliament (PAP) President Chief Fortune Charumbira has urged Africans to take a leading role in shaping the continent’s future.Speaking at the ongoing Vuka Group Mining Indaba in Harare today, Chief Charumbira said Africa’s transformation required citizens who are proactive, disciplined, and confident in their own abilities rather than dependent on external validation. He said the continent was endowed with talent and opportunities that must be fully harnessed through collective organisation and a strong sense of purpose.“It is time for the young people to organise themselves and take responsibility for the future. We cannot keep repeating the same things without progress.

We must look at our mindset, because the mind is very important,” he said.Chief Charumbira said Africans should avoid complaining about challenges and instead seize opportunities to influence policies, laws, and governance systems in their countries.“Every five years, you will either be blessed or blamed for failing to take the opportunity to influence the law.

People must rectify what they are getting into instead of just complaining,” he said.He emphasised the importance of unity, collaboration, and confidence among African citizens, noting that the continent’s development would only be achieved through shared effort and consistent application of values.Chief Charumbira also reflected on the need for ethical leadership and integrity, warning against corruption and self-interest in business and politics.“We must practise the right values and apply sound analysis in our work. The business environment in Africa can only thrive when there is accountability and respect for the law,” he said.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
