A 60-year-old businessman, who operated around Pan Africa Shopping Centre, was shot and killed on 2nd Avenue in Alexandra in the early hours of this morning, reportsAlex News. Police confirmed that the man was shot four times in what appears to be a robbery. Alexandera SAPS station commander Brigadier Vusimuzi Ngubane said the victim had left his home around 04:45 to buy stock for his business.
“He owns a small business at Pan, so he was going to buy stock with R1 200,” he said. Ngubane revealed that evidence suggests there may have been a scuffle before the fatal shooting. “At the crime scene, you can see that this old man was fighting,” Ngubane added.
He confirmed that the deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds. “The bullet wounds, one was in the chest, one in the back and two in the right hip,” he said. Police are investigating a case of murder and at this stage it is not clear how many suspects were involved in the shooting.
