Dismissed scandal-ridden National Social Security Authority (Nssa) chairman Emmanuel Fundira has written a letter to the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare contesting his removal, together with his board as first reported by The NewsHawks last week Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare minister Edgar Moyo fired Fundira and his whole board after he tried to stall and block the appointment of new Nssa General Manager Charles Shava Nssa has not had a chief executive equivalent since July 2022 when former general manager Arthur Manase was suspended under a cloud of corruption charges Shava had been acting as general manager since then until his appointment in March
Fundira, who has been replaced by Bulawayo Town Clerk Christopher Dube, says his dismissal was not procedural and justified, pleading with the minister for a “review” of the situation “I have received the letter dated 23rd June 2025 informing me of the termination of my appointment as a member and chairperson of the National Social Security Authority board,” Fundira writes to Moyo “I am writing to respectfully bring to your attention that upon careful examination and review of the letter, I noticed that the reason for the termination as stated is to lay a new foundation for Nssa The letter does not indicate the section in the Nssa Act or Public Enterprises Corporate Governance Act on which it is based
I would therefore like to kindly request that you review this matter further to ensure that the correct legal provision is applied.” Police Probe NSSA Boss Over RTG Extortion Plot Meeting clears RTG executives in Money Laundering Probe NSSA chairman embroiled in underhand RTG takeover bid NSSA interviews on under US$10m corruption cloud NSSA board divided over US$10m ICT security deal Reasons for Mnangagwa’s ruthless house demolitions
