HIGHLANDERS’ quest to remain afloat in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League continues as they clash with ZPC Kariba at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. It’s six games to go before the 2025 league season wraps up and the Bulawayo giants sit on position nine on the table with 33 points. And coach Pieter de Jongh still insists he just needs to get to 40 points so that Highlanders can be home and dry.

We know that this is a very difficult game,” he said. “I hope to see a lot of fans on Sunday like last weekend against Scottland because our fans are amazing; big support that we had and we also need it this Sunday because the game is equally important.” De Jongh is, however, wary of the power utility side, who are four points ahead of the Bulawayo giants on position eight as the relegation battles take centre stage to the end of the season.

“We need seven points from six games to get to 40 points and that will be enough to save the club from relegation,” he said. “That is our target and the earlier we get the seven points, the better. Sometimes you win, draw or lose.
“It is an important game because ZPC Kariba is on 37 points and we are on 33 and if we win, we are just a point from them.” He added: “If you look at their statistics; it’s interesting. They have good players and it’s not going to be easy.
