Brandon Moyo at Barbourfields StadiumHIGHLANDERS fans were left fuming after a costly defensive blunder gifted Ngezi Platinum Stars the lead in a tense Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Barbourfields this afternoon. Bosso trail 1–0 at the break after Arthur Ndlovu, under pressure in his own box, botched a clearance and slammed the ball straight into the path of Tinashe Mavhudzi, who made no mistake from close range in the 25th minute. It was Madamburo’s first real chance—and they buried it. Highlanders, struggling to find consistency this season, had their chances but simply couldn’t convert. In the 9th minute, Never Rauzhi fired a low effort from outside the box, but it was easily smothered by Ngezi goalie Darlington Murasiranwa.
Bosso kept probing. In the 21st minute, Melikhaya Ncube set up Malvern Hativagoni, who let rip from range, but again, Murasiranwa was equal to the task. Two minutes later, Rauzhi almost redeemed himself with a powerful header off a Mason Mushore corner—but it whistled just wide. The drama escalated in the 37th minute when Mushore’s freekick was cleared by the Ngezi wall. Moments later, Ncube rattled the woodwork with a screamer inside the box, but Mushore failed to capitalize on the rebound.Just before the halftime whistle, Panashe Mushonga volleyed a shot from close range but Murasiranwa, the standout so far, punched it out for yet another corner.
It’s 1–0 to Madamburo at the break. Bosso fans will hope for a second-half turnaround—if their strike force can find its teeth. Developing story…Share on FacebookPost on XFollow usSave
