Former Western Cape ANC secretary Neville Delport joined the DA. FORMER ANC provincial secretary Neville Delport has denied that he is still in possession of one of the party’s branded bakkies after his former colleagues lodged a criminal complaint against him. Police on Thursday confirmed a case of vehicle theft was registered against Delport at Piketberg police on Monday.
“The complainant alleges that the vehicle was booked in a garage in Worcester and the suspect removed it from the garage without permission and has been using it since July 2025. No arrest has been made yet; the matter is under investigation,” said provincial police spokesperson, Ndakhe Gwala. The ANC in the Western Cape said Delport remained in possession of the party’s bakkie and failed to return it even after defecting to the in November last year.
Since then, he has been in “unlawful possession” of the bakkie, Western Cape spokesperson, Sifiso Mtsweni. “He has ignored repeated requests to return the bakkie to the ANC Western Cape. The ANC has been left with no choice but to open a criminal case against Mr Delport whose nostalgia of the ANC has now become criminal to a point where he believes that assets belonging to the ANC are his personal acquisitions. We expect SAPS to deal with this matter urgently.”
