Cornered, the robbers tossed a satchel containing the loot into the air hoping to distract the mob which helped itself to the cash first, before meting instant justice on the suspects.
Beitbridge police boss Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo confirmed the incident but said the names of the suspects were yet to be established. “We thank the public for standing up against these armed robbers.
Police were called and we have made arrests.
There was mob justice and these robbers were severely beaten,” he said.
The two suspects and their victim were all taken to hospital.
