Pay-TV platform AzamTV has expanded its content offering with the addition of several new channels, as it steps up efforts to strengthen its presence across the region. The new channels, which went live on 1 March, include MUTV, African Movie Channel, Nollywood Africa HD, Hits, Dance and Jive. The additions broaden the platform’s entertainment portfolio, spanning sports, films and music.
The move is part of a wider strategy to attract a more diverse audience by offering a mix of international and African programming. Building on this expansion, the platform introduced two more channels on 1 April , ZBC News24 and BCN Black Creator Network further enhancing its local and regional content mix. BCN Black Creator Network is owned by Michael Maponga, a Zimbabwean executive producer based in Hollywood with more than 15 years’ experience in the global film and television industry.
Industry observers say the inclusion of locally relevant content alongside international channels is becoming increasingly important in Africa’s competitive pay-TV market. AzamTV’s continued rollout of new channels signals its ambition to position itself as a key player on the continent, as platforms compete for audiences seeking both global entertainment and homegrown storytelling.
