Moreblessing NcubeA BULAWAYO man allegedly attacked his girlfriend with an axe after she confronted him over cheating.

Makanika Mwembe (41) from Highmount suburb appeared before Tredgold magistrate Maxwell Ncube, facing assault charges.

He was fined US$200 or three months behind bars.

Prosecutor Mehluli Ndlovu, told the court that the violent drama unfolded on 30 November 2024 at around 8pm, at Mwembe’s home.

It is alleged Masikati had confronted Mwembe over his infidelity.

Instead of talking things out, Mwembe allegedly grabbed an axe and struck her once on the right side of the head using the blunt end.

The vicious attack left Masikati bruised and bleeding.

Police later recovered the axe and belt, which were produced in court as exhibits under forms 360S/N 0965812 and 0965813.

The incident has left neighbours stunned, with some saying they heard shouting and cries for help before police arrived.
