Authorities recently conducted a raid on several agricultural chemical shops in Harare’s Central Business District, targeting counterfeit products in an effort to clean up the market The operation involved officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the police’s Licensing and Inspectorate Division, who seized various unapproved items found on store shelves Among the confiscated items were pesticides, insecticides, and other agrochemicals A store owner based on South Avenue shared that the inspection team warned traders against purchasing supplies from unreliable sources
“This time, the authorities meant business,” the shopkeeper said.“Some of the officials were testing products on the spot, and anything identified as fake was immediately taken down.We were advised to cooperate fully with the relevant departments and to stop selling products that haven’t been properly verified.In the past, we would simply pay a fine and keep our goods, but that is no longer the case.”
