Atamelang tours roads infrastructure

Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang on March 26 embarked on a tour of the roads infrastructure in the Maokane catchment area, among them the Jwaneng-Maokane road. He indicated that even though construction of the road was not included in the National Development Plan 12, the communities should be optimistic that it would be considered during the plan’s midterm review. He also noted that the Jwaneng-Maokane road was among those earmarked for maintenance in the 2026/2027 financial year.

The Assistant Minister also addressed a kgotla meeting in Maokane, where residents urged the government to prioritise the Maokane road project as a key infrastructural development in the area for improved access to services. They also supported the proposed amendment to the Road Traffic Act as well as the newly-enacted Road Traffic (Detective Devices) Regulations.ENDS
