MINISTER of Defence Ambrose Lufuma has clarified that Army Commander Lt General Godfrey Zyeele misused the word ‘exterminate’ when addressing the issue of illegal miners in Mufumbwe. He says exterminating people is not an option under the current regime, adding that the intention of the army is to shepherd the illegal miners from the area. In a recent viral video, Lt General Zyeele had said the Commander-in-Chief had directed the army to exterminate illegal miners.
“The directions from the commander-in-chief are very straightforward, to exterminate illegal miners. We do not intend to use force but, obviously, when necessary, that is our business to use force. I do know there will be consequences in that direction, such as injuries [or] loss… Do you agree that child defilers should be castrated?
