Travellers near Estcourt are being urged to remain vigilant following an investigation by South African Police Service (SAPS) into armed robbers impersonating police officers. According to theNorthern Natal News, the incident occurred on Friday night when a white van fitted with flashing blue lights stopped a motorist travelling from Durban to Johannesburg. The robbers, reportedly dressed in police uniforms, allegedly forced the motorist and a passenger to pull over and robbed them at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.
Police said the identities of the suspects and the registration number of the vehicle are still unknown. nvestigations are under way to establish whether the suspects were legitimate officers or criminals posing as law enforcement officials.
