aprm delegation commends zim’s infrastructure development milestones story by oleen ndori, foreign editor the visiting african peer review mechanism (aprm) delegation has expressed satisfaction with the milestones the country is recording in infrastructure development. this wednesday, the visiting aprm delegation had a chance to see the interchange built using local resources, local contractors and local engineering expertise, true to the mantra by president emmerson mnangagwa that a country is built by its own people, ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo.

upon inception, the second republic placed at its core the infrastructure development agenda through 100-day cycle projects as well as priority projects ranging from gwayi shangani lake construction, the robert mugabe international airport expansion project, the new parliament building, including the trabablas interchange, which was constructed mainly to ease transport challenges and improve connectivity. “what we have seen here is marvellous. the work and the use of local resources and personnel is just what the continent needs to move countries towards sustainable growth and we applaud zimbabwe,” a member of aprm, mr germain tshinu said.

“this interchange, meant to ease congestion and improve connectivity, is a good sign towards the country’s economic growth targets,” aprm’s director of country reviews and assessments, dr rachel mukamunana in 2023, president emmerson mnangagwa commissioned the robert gabriel mugabe international airport expansion project and again, the visiting delegates were impressed with the work being done by the government, as it speaks directly to the focus of economic governance and management. the museum of african liberation, which is under construction, is expected to house artefacts that tell the journey towards uhuru for many african nations with support from friendly states like russia and cuba.
