An interesting battle was expected between Botswana and the USA following the rivalry between the two nations. Botswana pulled a shocker by snatching the 4x400m title during the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. USA Track and Field (USATF) will send teams in the other four events: mixed 4x100m, mixed 4x400m, men’s 4x100m, and women’s 400x100m.
In a statement, USATF chief content and communications officer Jay Holder said the decision was made for two reasons: firstly, that it was difficult for them to find top-tier US athletes who want to go to Gaborone. The other reason was that a lot of A-team athletes have expressed that they are not interested in competing at the World Athletics Relays Gaborone 26. For too long, the state of many public schools has been a source of shame.
We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously.
