Alpha Direct creates splash with health care insurance move

The company has unveiled its health insurance offering, with plans starting from as little as P76 per month, as it targets a largely underserved segment of formally employed Batswana who remain outside private healthcare cover. Alpha Direct’s entry introduces a different model into a market traditionally structured around medical aid funds such as Bomaid, BPOMAS and Pula Medical Aid. These schemes operate on a mutual “non-profit” basis where member contributions are pooled to fund healthcare costs.
