Alberton is not simply declining – it is being allowed to collapse through ongoing neglect, indifference, and a complete failure of leadership. The condition of our town has reached a point where residents can no longer remain silent or patient. Our roads are riddled with damage, pavements are broken and unsafe, traffic lights and road markings are missing or non-functional, grass is left to grow unchecked, and litter lines our streets.

These are not isolated problems or recent developments. This level of deterioration has been building for years, and it has now reached an unacceptable and dangerous state. What makes this situation even more infuriating is that residents are increasingly forced to step in where the municipality has failed.

Equally troubling is the apparent absence of accountable leadership. There is a clear and growing disconnect between those making decisions and those living with the consequences. If the mayor or senior officials do not reside in Alberton, then they are insulated from the daily reality faced by residents.

Leadership that does not live here cannot fully understand or care about the urgency of the situation. Alberton deserves leaders who are present, visible, and directly affected by the failures they are meant to address. This letter is not merely a complaint; it is a call to action.

Residents of Alberton must stand together and demand transparency, clear timelines for repairs and maintenance, and leadership that is willing to be held accountable. We must stop accepting excuses, empty promises, and silence. If those responsible refuse to act, public pressure must intensify until they act.

Alberton’s residents deserve dignity, safety, and basic service delivery. We will not watch our town deteriorate any further without making our voices heard.
