A special performance forPortrait of Zimbabwe/Mifananidzo ye Zimbabwe is set to take place at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on Thursday 19 July 2025.

Connecting Points is a performance by young artist,Shalom Kufakwatenzi, with the collaborative efforts of fellow young artist, Amanda Norton.

As Portrait of Zimbabwe/ Mifananidzo ye Zimbabwe carries three interpretive works by Contemporary Artists, including Admire Kamudzengerere, Wallen Mapondera and George Masarira; Shalom’s performative piece will form the fourth and final facet of the commentary pieces, as selected by co-curators Jennifer Kyker and Fadzai Muchemwa

This piece is an interactive performance art piece, which illustrates memories of childhood from the selected deck of photos taken by the Artist It is a guideline to memory lane, of what the selected photos remind the artist of their childhood

Connecting Points is about connecting to the past and also getting in touch with an inner childhood, it revisits the good and the bad creating an allowance to deal with hidden pasts that have until now, been long forgotten.

The result is a confirmation of memory in its weight and value, by creating the interpretation of ‘now’ from the building place of ‘then’ The performance will commence at 18:00hrs, Members of Public are invited Portraits of Zimbabwe/Mifananidzo ye Zimbabwe is made possible by the support of the Embassy of the United States of America and the University of Rochester
