A senior FBC Bank official, Rena Kunonga Sambaza, is at the center of a legal storm over allegations of fraudulently acquiring a residential property in Strathaven and later entering into a questionable land exchange deal with Afrolink Sports Management According to court documents, Sambaza allegedly conspired with officials from the City of Harare to unlawfully acquire Stand No 1081 Strathaven Township, measuring 756 square metres She then exchanged it with Afrolink for a larger 1,800-square-metre property in The Grange, along with a US$34,000 top-up

Afrolink has since filed a High Court application seeking to reverse the deal, citing fraud, misrepresentation, and failure to disclose material facts The legal action also seeks:The cancellation of the land exchange agreement Recovery of The Grange stand (Title Certificate No 4211/2013)US$10,000 reimbursement for construction work already undertaken on the Strathaven property.

Eviction of Sambaza and any other occupants from the Grange property In the summons, filed through Harrison Nkomo of Mhishi, Nkomo Legal Practitioners, Afrolink claims it was unaware the Strathaven stand was under legal dispute until it received threats while developing the property

Upon investigating, Afrolink alleges it discovered:Conflicting sale agreements indicating Sambaza “purchased” the same Strathaven stand twice: once from a private individual named Simango Thabitha in 2018 for US$25,000 (paid via a Toyota Fortuner), and earlier in 2017 from the City of Harare for US$8,690.A pending criminal case (CR 122/7/20) involving City of Harare officials over the fraudulent sale of several properties, including the Strathaven stand.

A witness statement by Sambaza in the criminal case, which allegedly contradicts her claims in the land swap deal Afrolink alleges that Sambaza, aware of the property’s questionable history, still proceeded with the exchange to obtain a clean title on The Grange property effectively defrauding them. The case is pending a High Court hearing as both parties prepare for legal battle Source: Gambakwe
