According to State papers, Mhandu allegedly asked her former maid,Elizabeth Mharire(48), to accompany her to a traditional healer,Christine Matashu, also known asManjenjenje, in Glen View.

The maid agreed, and they picked up Matashu in Glen Norah before heading to Churu Farm in Glen View, where Mhandu allegedly intended to cast a spell on the complainant.

At a bushy area on the farm, Matashu is said to have given Mhandu instructions on how to perform the ritual.

Mhandu allegedly took out a red cloth and wrote several names on it, includingMwarianesu,Amanda,Ishmael, andTariro Maumbe.

She then handed the cloth to Matashu, who tied snuff onto it, instructed her to dig a hole, and bury the cloth along with a knife (known in Shona asbakatwa) while making her wishes.

After performing the ritual, they returned home.

The State further alleges that onJuly 5, Mharire returned from town to find snuff scattered around her bedroom and belongings.

When she confronted Mhandu, she allegedly claimed she had dropped it there by mistake.

Snuff was also found on the toilet seat, and when questioned, Mhandu reportedly told her it was the maid’s ancestral spirit responsible for the incident.

Mharire then informed Mhandu she could no longer work for her.

In response, Mhandu allegedly took the maid’s phone and deleted all her pictures, saying she did not want them posted on social media.

OnJuly 9, Mharire told the complainant that Mhandu had cast a bad spell on her and requested to be shown the site where it happened.

The next day, she packed her belongings and left Mhandu’s home. 🔗 Read Full Article
