Prosecutor Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court the pair took the vehicle after hours on August 2 from a Kelvin North industrial company where they worked. “They drove into the city without the owner’s consent and were later involved in a fatal accident that killed Bhunu, who was on duty delivering newspapers on a motorbike,” said Kufandikanwe.
The stolen GD6 Toyota Hilux was extensively damaged.
Nkomo will return to court on August 21 to face a separate charge of culpable homicide over Bhunu’s death.
