Speaking in Tlokweng during the unveiling of the team’s new kit on Friday, Mathew accepted the new challenge and said he took over the reins at Centre Chiefs with the aim to build on past successes and take the once Mighty Magosi to greater past glory days. Mathew said he was honoured to take up the new role and follow the strategic direction set up by his predecessors. “The immediate past president Mr Stanton Fredricks nominated me to take charge as new president and I’m forever grateful of his trust in me.
I also want to thank the team that had been supportive to him to discharge his duties diligently and we can only hope to continue the journey,” he said. Mathew said he hoped the club management and supporters would display the same level of discipline, respect and love they had displayed over the years to make Centre Chiefs great again. Former president and former Bafana Bafana star Fredricks has moved to the board of directors of football at the club.
For his part Fredricks said he was grateful to have assumed the responsibility of Magosi which was a brand which deserved much respect. “We are moving in the right direction because we took decisions in order to reinvent. In order to move in that desired direction, we need to put everything else in place, these are new beginnings with foresight and we shall definitely reach our destination,” he said.

Chiefs’ team manager Owe Mmolawa said the event was more than unveiling the team’s new regalia but a revelation of the real identity of the club. “Every shirt will tell a story, it carries the responsibility of Botswana’s iconic and passionate soccer movement. It gives a clear identity from others, grown in Kgatleng and spread to other peripheries outside Kgatleng,” said Mmolawa.
Joma SA kit brand stepped in two years ago as new kit sponsors. Joma SA brand representative Philani Xaba said their company was an internationally recognised entity that associated with success as it had proved its strong presence in Europe and all over the continent. He said Centre Chiefs was a team of rich heritage with great achievement in the domestic league campaign and that Joma was proud to associate with high achievers.
Magosi also unveiled Maaparankwe Foundation, a social impact arm aimed at integrating the team’s operations and the community. Mmolawa said the club found it fitting to make positive impact on the society through outreaches such as education, health, wellness and environmental sustainability.ENDS
