Preparations are well underway for the much-anticipated 2026 Independence Kids Run, set to take place on 26 September 2026 in the heart of Gaborone CBD. This event celebrates Botswana’s 60th Independence Anniversary. Following the tremendous success of the Absa Summer Kids Marathon in April 2026, which drew over 1,800 young participants from across the country, the enthusiasm for youth sports, healthy living, and community involvement is clearly growing.

Registration is now open, and organizers encourage parents and guardians to secure spots for their children early. Preparations are progressing smoothly to ensure a safe, exciting, and memorable experience that honors this historic milestone. Co-founder Moagi Madisa expressed confidence that this year’s event will be the largest yet.

“The incredible turnout at the Absa Summer Kids Marathon showed just how passionate Botswana’s children are about sports and active living.
