This is the only commission that is reflecting results instantly, but it is stating that some names that have been mentioned at the Zondo Commission as lawbreakers are today in Parliament as lawmakers. I am not going to mention any names. You know who I am referring to.

This is the first time in this country that we have a commission where, while you are distorting the truth sitting on that chair, the van is waiting for you outside. For the first time, we see the taxpayer’s money bearing fruit. They will give you enough space to listen to your “nonsense” but at night you are not going to sleep peacefully, because the van will be waiting for you outside your gate.

How I wish this commission could be turned into something that is going to be there permanently. Those of you who have been to Tembisa Hospital will realise that the hospital, like many hospitals in the townships, needs doctors, ambulances, nurses; you name it. But we have people who have the audacity and guts to take money from the poorest of the poor to buy the most expensive vehicles in this country, and we must look away as if nothing has happened.

And Babita was not one of those. As OUTA, we have attended each and every Babita Deokaran case and protested outside court, and we are not going to stop until the masterminds are arrested. Like we have done in the past four years, in two weeks’ time, those of you who are available, those of you who live in Johannesburg, on Sunday, August 23, at 8am, we are going to be at the crime scene with the family to honour her again.

I am not going to talk politics, because crime and corruption have no colours of politics. Crime is crime, and corruption is corruption. We are not even going to sugar-coat it.

If you are committing a crime, irrespective of your position, irrespective of your social status, you must be arrested and prosecuted and wear orange. At least you will earn our taxes for free.
