A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus an additional 57 years for a series of crimes, including the murder of a police officer. Gcinikhaya Mbukula was sentenced by the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town on Tuesday, August 4. Western Cape Hawks head Major General Makgato commended the investigating team and prosecutors for their efforts in securing the conviction and lengthy sentence. Mbukula was handed a life sentence for the murder of the police official, with a further 57 years imposed for the other offences.
