IDAC prosecutor, Drushantha Ramsamy, has returned to the Madlanga Commission to continue her testimony on Wednesday. Madlanga Commission is set for another day of testimony on Tuesday as Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC)prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamyreturns to continue evidence that has already raised questions about the former IDAC head. Ramsamy is presenting her testimony in two parts after detailing allegations of irregular processes linked to an investigation into claims that the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) misused the Secret Services slush fund.

During her testimony, Ramsamy said she was insulted by former IDAC head Andrea Johnson during open meetings and was made redundant for nine months. The allegations stem from a whistleblower report submitted by National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams, prompting an internal assessment by an IDAC team that included Ramsamy. During her earlier appearance, Ramsamy played a recorded telephone conversation withformer IDAC head Andrea Johnson.

In the recording, Johnson criticised the commission in profane terms, saying: “Whether we like it or not, they are going to make our names s*** anyway.” She also questioned remarks attributed to the commission’s chair, saying: “He’s a judge. For him to comment that this is basic Law 101, I’m surprised you don’t know it with your 30 years of experience.” Johnson further claimed that the commission’s conduct was “so unprofessional”, alleging that facial expressions and laughter occurred while witnesses were still answering questions. The commission has also heard evidence suggesting Johnson instructed Ramsamy in 2024 to conduct a preliminary investigation into Adams’ complaint, despite testimony indicating the IDAC head was not authorised to assign investigation teams. Proceedings are expected to continue this week, following the testimony of Deputy Advocate Peter Serunye on Tuesday.
