20By Nigel PfundeBULAWAYO — The bodies of the late Zandile Tshuma and her two young daughters, Natalie and Nala, are expected to land at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport Sunday at 2:00 PM, marking a crucial step toward their final interment following their tragic deaths in the United Kingdom.The flight departed the UK on Saturday and made a scheduled stopover in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before proceeding to Zimbabwe.Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Leon Leroy Khumalo confirmed that all preparations to receive the remains had been finalized.“All is in place to receive our daughter and our grandchildren. The family will be there when the plane lands at 2pm,” Khumalo said.Following the arrival, family members and the Member of Parliament for Luveve will gather at the family’s residence in Gwabalanda to finalize funeral arrangements, fulfilling the family’s wish to lay the three to rest in their home country.A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday at the Brethren in Christ Church in New Lobengula.
The funeral procession will pass through the family home in Gwabalanda prior to burial at Old Luveve Cemetery, where the three will be laid to rest side by side.The repatriation follows a major criminal investigation in the UK. Tshuma and her daughters were found dead at their residence in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, in July after neighbors raised concerns over their absence. A murder investigation launched by Bedfordshire Police revealed through post-mortem examinations that all three victims died from blunt force trauma.UK authorities subsequently named Tshuma’s husband, 45-year-old Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, as the prime suspect.
He was later apprehended in South Africa and appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm. The matter was postponed pending legal proceedings to extradite him to the UK to face murder charges.Prior to the repatriation, a memorial service drew over 500 attendees at the Corn Exchange in Bedford, where Tshuma lived with her children.
