Mozambique: More than 3,000 exhibitors expected at FACIM 2026

A total of 26 countries have registered to participate in the 61st edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), which will take place from 31 August to 6 September in Ricatla, Marracuene district, Maputo province. Last year’s edition featured participants from 25 countries. Held under the theme “Digital and Energy Transformation Towards a Sustainable Economy“, this year’s FACIM is expected to attract 3,150 exhibitors from across all sectors of economic activity, both nationally and internationally.

More than 55,000 visitors are also expected to attend, including representatives of institutions and participating countries. Speaking toDomingo, FACIM Director Alfredo Nampuio said the number of participants could still increase, as several countries and institutions have expressed interest in taking part but have yet to confirm their participation. Saudi Arabia to make FACIM debut, Brazil guest country of honour Registration closed on Friday, although exceptions are being made for countries and organisations that had previously expressed an interest in participating.

“Among the registered countries, Saudi Arabia will be participating in the event for the first time. Brazil is this year’s guest country of honour. There is considerable activity in Brazil to mobilise exhibitors, with several companies also expected to travel to Mozambique,” Nampuio said.

Niassa has been designated the featured province for this year’s edition and will be represented by a large number of exhibitors, as well as a high-level delegation. Nampuio said this year’s edition would, for the first time, include a dedicated pavilion for host Maputo province. “This is a new development that we believe should be fully capitalised on.

Maputo province is the country’s largest industrial hub, and the pavilion will showcase its economic potential, businesses and development projects. This is a milestone and a major innovation in the format that FACIM has traditionally presented,” he said.
