The meeting, held at ENH’s headquarters in Maputo, brought together delegations led by ENH Chairman of the Board Rudêncio Morais and African Energy Chamber Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk, who was visiting Mozambique. “The African Energy Chamber is a platform to be taken into consideration and with which we can work, aligned with the thinking around the need to exploit energy resources for the benefit of African countries,” Morais said. For his part, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber highlighted that the strengthening of the partnership comes at a time when ENH is preparing to enter new and larger projects, seeking to attract investors to the country, while also becoming a stronger national oil company.

“It was very inspiring to hear ENH’s vision of becoming an operator. That is what really drives [us], because it will be able to operate oil and gas fields, employ Mozambicans and produce the energy that Mozambique and the region need,” NJ Ayuk said. “We want Mozambicans to be the first to benefit from the opportunities, so that they can become true drivers of change,” he added. NJ Ayuk revealed that, as part of a fund the Chamber is creating, working with ENH will be an excellent opportunity to finance small Mozambican companies seeking to participate in the oil sector, which often face financial barriers.
