Customers who are unable to complete their application in one sitting can conveniently pause the process and resume it later without starting again. To open an account, customers simply access the Self-Onboarding portal through the Bank Gaborone website, select their preferred banking product, verify their identity using their Omang and a biometric selfie, complete their personal and employment information, upload the required supporting documents, accept the terms and conditions and electronically sign their application. Once submitted, the Bank verifies the information provided before activating the account, with customers required to fund their new account within 48 hours.

To complete the application, customers will need a valid Botswana National Identity Card (Omang), proof of residential address and proof of source of funds. Additional documentation may be requested where regulatory requirements apply. Looking ahead, Bank Gaborone plans to continue enhancing the platform by introducing additional banking products, enabling customers to open multiple accounts within a single onboarding journey and expanding digital onboarding capabilities as customer needs evolve. With the launch of Self-Onboarding, Bank Gaborone continues to strengthen its position as a digitally enabled bank committed to making banking simpler, smarter and more accessible for every Motswana.
