Three KwaZulu-Natal police officers are set to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of suspects in KwaMashu last year. The two sergeants and a constable face murder charges following the incident, which occurred on March 20, 2025. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said it is alleged that the occupants of a red VW Polo were shot and killed by SAPS members after their vehicle was intercepted while returning from a community meeting at Duff’s Road Hall in KwaMashu.

The officers alleged that they returned fire after the suspects fired at them first. The three officers were served with summons on June 18 and June 23 to appear in court.
